The Sales Vault

Do You See What I See?

A website is a window to the soul of the company. But what exactly does your website say, and is it even accurate? Bill Farquharson found a clever and entertaining way to find out and shares the intel in this week's blog.

“Everyone,” my sister told me once, “is the hero in their own story.”

That is, we all see ourselves in a favorable light and believe others see the same thing the same way.

Not always true.

How does the world—and more importantly, your potential customer—see your company? The answer to that question depends a great deal on the message you are putting out; the most obvious and important being your website. But is it accurately describing your company?

Let’s find out.

Feed your company’s URL into Google NotebookLM, a “research and note-taking online tool designed to assist users in interacting with their documents.” (Note: I donated $50 to Wikipedia on your behalf to get that definition). One such capability: It will create a podcast from the information you feed it.

Allison and I tried it. We wondered how the world saw The Sales Vault, our subscription-based website for sales reps in the Graphic Arts.

What happened next was incredible.

Two people WHO DON’T EXIST started talking about The Vault and explained it perfectly…PERFECTLY. In fact, I took the first 4 minutes and added some visuals. The “presenters” destroyed my last name (twice) but other than that, it was mind-blowing and accurate.

We were VERY happy to learn that our website accurately describes our service and we are sending out the right message.

You’re next.

If you want to know more about the message your website sends, try the same exercise. Every client I’ve shared this tip with has reported back mind-blowing results. One even loaded his Christmas letter into NotebookLM and laughed as the podcast reported the details of his family’s 2024!

What you put about your company is one thing. How the world hears it is another.

Have fun!
