“I wish I didn’t go to the gym today.”
No one has ever uttered those words. To the contrary. We end our day upset because we put it off. Again.
“I’ll go first thing” becomes “I’ll go at lunchtime” becomes “I’ll go when I finish up” becomes “I’ll go after dinner” becomes “I’ll go first thing.” We put our head on the pillow and think, “I wish I was able to get to the gym today.”
Trade the gym with prospecting and you can have the same conversation with yourself. We know we need to do it, but we put off again and again, making excuses and false promises.
Do you know what the difference is between you and the top sales rep at your company? Discipline. It’s the “Just do it” types who just do it and have the results to just prove it.
You can be 100% prepared.
You can say you are committed.
But until you apply some discipline, it means nothing.
Change that. Today. Now that this blog is done, make the decision to engage in new business activity at some level.
And then do it.
