Good morning!
Sometime this week, Amazon and Target and Walmart will switch their focus from advertising gifts and toys to items having to do with organization and creating space. Buckets and boxes and closet organizers are broadly featured as we de-Holiday and reclaim our living areas. The result is a home with a lot more room to move around.
Less is better.
As we get ready for the ball drop and prepare for the new year, we, too, need to get organized and thin out our sales lives, sticking some tasks in boxes, throwing others out, and creating space for what is to come.
The first step is a physical cleanup. Fortunately, you cannot see the floor in my office for yourself, but I’ll admit that I have quite the assortment of papers near my filing cabinet waiting to find their home. Then, once that is done—or perhaps as part of that process—I will thin out my files.
Next, I’ll have a look at how I spend my selling day. I’m sure there’s a lot of fat on the bone in that area and I need to do a better job of focusing on the activities which are most beneficial.
Finally, there’s my computer hard drive. I have way too many old emails and pictures and videos which need to get thrown out. If nothing else, the computer will run faster.
Then, moving forward I need to make certain I am spending my time on the four or five activity groups—or what I call Sales Silos—which benefit me the most.
I believe it’s possible to sell 50% more and work 50% less.
I’ve done it, and I’m so confident my Sales Vault clients can do the same that I’m dedicating the entire month of January to sales productivity. It’s a five-step process and it starts with a little exercise designed to help you to identify those five Sales Silos. If you’re interested, download instructions and a worksheet to help you get started.
Imagine what could happen if you focus 100% of your selling time on the parts of your job which benefit you the most.
That’s the Holy Grail of time management: Sell more in less time. And it all starts with this download.
This week, put some time into de-cluttering your living space. If you need help, go to Target. When you are done, do the same for your sales life. If you need help there, join in this January as we kick off what could be your best sales year yet.
