Good Morning!
Last week, I talked about seeking to shorten that cycle of despair we all feel and stop that internal tape recorder from reminding us of negative feelings. I also promised you a different strategy along the same lines and here it is…
You’ve heard me give this advice before and if you’ve never done anything with it, do it this time. I got the idea from a book by Mike Dooley, called Notes from the Universe. Full credit is his.
Right now, it might seem like your world is crashing down upon you. Issues and challenges mount on the business and personal side. So many things are out of your control to affect and change and improve, so you must take charge of your thoughts and actions.
This sales tip will be released on the first Monday of May. Take out a pad of paper and grab a pen. Across the top right, Where I want to be six months from now. Then, make a list of the different aspects of your life, from financial to personal to work and so on. Going into as much detail as you can, describe the absolute best case scenario for each, as if everything you’ve ever wanted in life has suddenly happened.
Don’t do this in one sitting but rather do it over several. I want you to really focus on how good things could be if everything went your way.
If you follow that last suggestion, something magical will happen. I’m not even going to tell you what it is so as not to spoil the surprise you have waiting for you. Do it. The more detail you provide, the more this exercise will change your mood and attitude.
It might be strange for you to accept, but you choose your reaction. Just as you can choose to be terrified, you can choose to be optimistic. It’s natural to feel scared but it’s within your control to feel confident.
There is a long story behind it, but this exercise really did change my life. Buy me a beer sometime and I’ll tell you all about it.
