A good workday— efficient, productive, and effective— yields tremendous satisfaction. It doesn’t happen that often, so you need to savor those days when a lot of tasks are checked off the list.
However, it’s entirely possible for a good workday to still leave you unsatisfied overall. Clicking off your desk light at, say, 5 PM and “heading home,” you can find yourself staring at another list of unaccomplished tasks:
- Mow the lawn
- Paint the shed
- Clean the garage
You might say, “That’s what weekends are for, Bill,” and you’d be right. But weekends are also for golf and walking and relaxing. Which would you rather do?
If you work from home, take advantage of it and move your productive day from good to great by attacking something on your personal list during the workday. It’s a whole another level of satisfaction to chip away at house chores.
Sorry, gotta run. I’m swapping out the floor mats in the cars this morning.
