One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
Good morning!
Did that seem like a long time? It was only 8 seconds.
That’s how long you have to capture someone’s attention. Whether it’s an email or a voicemail message, a video or a white paper, those first words make a huge difference.
For example, it took 8 seconds for me to count off 8 seconds. It got your attention, though, didn’t it?
Reading your email or listening to a voicemail, the client is holding a finger over the delete button. Do you really want to spend time saying, “Hope you are doing well”? A good voicemail starts off with a bang, not feigned concern.
A good LinkedIn post has an opening line that hooks you. It makes you want to hit the “See More” button. And a good Monday morning sales tip starts with “Good morning!”
We are all flooded with messages. With time at a premium and attention spans at a minimum, we are challenged to get our thoughts across succinctly. But even the best messages will go to waste if you are not focused on the opening line.
Make sure you are producing solid content and communication, but pay special attention to the first 8 seconds.
Eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one…

This is by far the best value and content for the monthly subscription cost. I've been in the graphic arts industry for over 30 years and I enjoy all the new things I learn here, as well as being reminded of the basics!

Bill, Thank you for the LinkedIn training. It was incredibly helpful! I've spent hours over the weeks searching for insight like this and nothing compares! Madeline did an amazing job! I enjoyed learning from her. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
I just unlocked the Sales Vault. WOW.
There is so much to review, learn and grow from. I’m super excited to have access to this knowledge.
As someone who sort of stumbled into sales, I have found The Sales Vault to be invaluable in the process of sharpening my sales skills. You don’t need a background in printing to benefit from the content here – whether it’s an article, webinar or live discussion. I’ve learned so much not only from Bill and Kelly, but also from fellow Vault members who generously share their thoughts and experiences so that all of us may succeed. I learn something new every time I visit The Sales Vault, and the benefits far outweigh the cost.
Bill, What you've created - whether you intended to or not - is a sales community. The Sales Vault is a place I go to hear how others are solving the same problems I am facing. We've developed a solid core I look forward to seeing week after week.
I've been absent from Sales Vault programs for a while getting my kids started in school. It's good to be back. I wanted the support of like-minded people who are going through what I'm going through.
The cost is a no-brainer for one great idea or a kick in the ass.
Bill, as a former coaching client and Sales Vault Insider, I wanted to reach out to you and share my good news. The lessons you've shared have really stuck with me. I have sold $147,718 this month so far. It’s been a good wave this month...Thanks for all your help.
Bottom line - Bill's mentoring reminded me of why I love selling print. His ability to reestablish sales fundamentals and apply them to newer prospecting tactics during a nationwide lock down has been remarkable. My numbers are up, as is my outlook. You're "wicked good" at sales, Bill!
During one of our recent Wednesday Insider Office Hours calls I expressed my frustration with prospects who won't take my call or respond to my normal sales letters. You suggested I try the Best Prospecting Letter Ever! download from the Sales Vault. I did and it worked! Bill, thank you for encouraging me to try to get out of my old way of thinking and try something new.
I had just come off my worst sales month ever and needed answers. I wanted to hear what successful reps were doing, so I joined the Sales Vault. You've always been a great source of information, ideas, leadership, and inspiration and I figured The Vault would be a great resource. From what I have seen so far, I was right!
I am always looking for something unique. I need the new ideas the Sales Vault provides, such as the best prospecting letter ever!
