Imagine selling a product everyone needs and everyone buys.
That’s promo.
Sure makes the task of finding a prospect easy. Just look for two qualities: a pulse and a checkbook.
But in time you learn two lessons that help you limit your search—identifying your target market and narrowing in on your message.
There’s a lot I can teach you about selling promotional products and branded apparel but these two things are up to you and it’s only by trial and error that you get your answers.
Starting out in sales, you are the Tasmanian devil: unorganized, highly caffeinated, and selling at a frantic pace. You are calling on everyone, all the time and saying anything that comes to mind.
Eventually, you calm down and sell with more structure, patience, and planning. In the meantime, hide the valuables, secure anything breakable, and go wild!
It’s okay to be scattered, unorganized, and resembling a Looney Toons character when you are just starting out. In fact, enjoy it. This might be the only time you get away with such sales insanity.
