A Crazy Idea For Hiring a Great Sales Rep

Everyone knows rejection is a part of sales. One guy has an interesting method for finding out if a rep can overcome an important objection: Rejection during the interview. Read more in Bill Farquharson’s blog.
In my sales tip recently, I talked about missing my flight to the ISA show. Rebooking, I ended up sitting next to a venture capitalist who was keen on telling me of his success. That this conversation happened not only in coach, but on a Southwest Airlines flight went noticed but unmentioned. Anyhoo… This guy told me he has a great method for hiring sales people: He rejects every applicant during the interview. His thinking, “I reject 100%. Anyone who reaches out after the interview to tell me why I should have hired them is hired immediately.” Told you it was crazy! Mr. Successful explained to me he is only interested in reps who can overcome objections and get through negativity unscathed. And according to him, it works. Take that story for what it is worth and keep the location (seat 22A) in mind if you consider trying it. **************** Speaking of trying it, try The Sales Vault for a month and you will be hooked.
