AI is truly incredible. It’s a game-changer for every aspect of our life.
Ask AI to create your sales presentation.
Ask AI to summarize what a company does.
Feed AI a pdf and you can create an avatr-driven podcast instantly.
But do NOT ask AI to create your LinkedIn profile. Why?
There is a lack of authenticity. There’s no personal touch. You might find cookie cutter language. Or perhaps AI will misunderstand the context of work or background. It might over or under sell your skills. The information could be irrelevant, too.
Since you aren’t the only one with this idea, consider the fact that your profile might match someone else’s, word for word. And if the truth ever gets out, you would rightly be accused of plagiarism.
AI does a lot of things well, but story-telling isn’t one of them and that is what LinkedIn is, after all, a story. You want a profile that highlights your unique achievements and AI is anything but unique.
And finally, your profile is not just a resume; it’s a tool for connecting with others. AI cannot convey the human side of your career—your motivations, challenges, and personal growth—that can foster meaningful relationships.
Creating a LinkedIn profile is a personal branding exercise. Using AI may strip away the personal touch and authenticity that can help you connect with the right audience. While AI tools can assist with some parts of the process, like grammar checking or keyword optimization, they shouldn’t replace the human element entirely.
Save AI for other tasks. Take writing a blog, for example…
